PROPER THREE WHEEL VEHICLE DESIGN PRINCIPLES

TRIKE SHOULD BE 1/3RD THE DISTANCE BETWEEN
AXLES... IN FRONT OF THE REAR AXLE.

        WHY DO TRIKES HANDLE POORLY AND SEEM ROUGH?

TRIKE CONVERSION KITS HAVE TO BOLT ON TO EXISTING MOTORCYCLES AND AS A
RESULT ARE LIMITED IN THEIR ENGINEERING, USING THE EXISTING FINAL DRIVE
LINE OF THE DONOR BIKE. THIS CAUSES A MYRIAD OF PROBLEMS WHICH, TO THIS
DATE, HAVE BEEN UN ADDRESSED OR 'CAMOUFLAGED'. TRIKES WERE BUILT HIGH
IN THE REAR TO ALLOW FOR AUTOMOTIVE STYLE DIFFERENTIALS. THIS CAUSED A
DE-RAKE (LESS ANGLE) OF THE STEERING NECK, CREATING LOW SPEED WOBBLE.
AN "ACCESSORY" WAS CREATED TO FIX THIS SO YOU COULD PAY 1200 DOLLARS
EXTRA TO CORRECT A MISTAKE IN THE ORIGINAL ENGINEERING (ez steer). WHILE
CURING THE WOBBLE, A TENDENCY TO OVER STEER AT HIGH SPEEDS WAS A BY
PRODUCT. OUR TRIKE IS DESIGNED TO HAVE THE PROPER NECK ANGLE (RAKE AND
TRAIL) FROM THE BEGINNING. ALSO BECAUSE TRIKE CONVERSION KITS WILL USE
A SOLID AXLE FROM A CAR LIKE A MUSTANG, THERE IS  PUSH BACK THROUGH THE
HANDLE BARS WHEN ONE REAR WHEEL HITS A BUMP INDEPENDENT OF THE OTHER
WHEEL. THIS LED TO THE USE OF INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION ON SOME TRIKES
BUT CAUSED A NEW PROBLEM. IN A HARD TURN YOU DO NOT WANT THE OUTSIDE
WHEEL TO GIVE, AS IT 'HELPS' IN A POSSIBLE ROLL OVER. THIS TYPE OF
SUSPENSION DOES WORK, HOWEVER,  
WHEN USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH A
SWAY BAR AND LONGER WHEEL BASE
. WE HAVE THAT... ONLY WE HAVE IT.
